We are the MPI for Biological Intelligence . But - what actually is #biologicalintelligence? It describes the way in which animal organisms acquire, store, apply and pass on knowledge about their environment in order to find ever new solutions to problems and adapt to a constantly changing environment.

Our logo symbolically unites all previous research fields and lets something new emerge from them. From the abstract silhouettes of a mouse, a fish, a bird and a fly, a creature emerges in the center that connects the organisms. At the same time, there are allusions to a nerve cell, a family tree and a labyrinth in which an animal must find its way. All these aspects form an interaction that reflects the research interests of the new institute and at the same time leaves room for new things.
